POSTPONED
Join curator Ann Clifford for a talk on Waltham’s “radical” women of the early 20th century. This group of suffragists who converged in Waltham in the 1910s built inclusive, cross-class coalitions with a regional and national reach. These multi-talented political activists, young and old, dedicated their careers to securing civil rights for ALL women regardless of ethnicity or economic class. This focus on the rights of working women—a cause especially appropriate for Waltham, a city of workers and center of the Industrial Revolution—distinguishes our group of suffragists from the vast majority of their contemporaries.
At this talk, we’ll also showcase our work with the Waltham Public Schools developing an imaginary 1920 time capsule assembled by Waltham students with teacher/lawyer/suffragist Ida “Stella” Hall.
