Wealthy women of the Lyman and Paine families had opportunities not available to most women of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Come hear Historic New England's Sally Zimmerman and Stonehurst Curator Ann Clifford share stories of Lyman and Paine mothers, daughters and unmarried women. Learn about their freedoms and constraints in education, marriage, child rearing, property ownership, charitable endeavors, personal expression and even political influence.
