The Waltham Conservation Commission was recently awarded funding to hire a consultant to develop a Land Stewardship Plan for the woodlands and trails of Stonehurst/the Paine Estate. Once the project is underway, we’ll have more information on how you can participate.

The plan will focus primarily on the ecology of the woodlands surrounding the 6-acre core of the estate, addressing its long-term preservation, the care and maintenance of its ecosystem and natural features, and its public use. It will also take into careful consideration the context of the larger cultural landscape and the historic features and historic uses of the forested areas of the property.
